So, above is the long-list for the proposed top 20 count down of my favorite albums of 2008 and already I’m in far too deep. 77 albums & ep’s so far and I’m sure there’s a few I’ve forgotten.

Looking at the list I’m getting scared thinking of all the stick I could come in for, are there enough Irish releases? there’s absolutely no hip hop, hardly any black people at all in fact. no ‘electronic’ records per se, are there enough women represented? Am I allowed put in a record by my friends?

This is my first time making such a list, I thought it would be easy, thought I could be true to myself and just whittle it all down using itunes play-counts and last.fm without having to think about what other people will think / say.

Ah fuck it, putting in an album just because it was made by a black lesbian rapper from Roscommon would be way more wrong than opening myself up to claims of being a racist, woman hating, indie schmindie nerd. But I guess none of what I think or you think really matters as far as this blog is concerned, it’s all about what nick thinks of the list.

He’s gonna think it’s a load of shite.
