Nick: Very interesting, maybe…. something that I don’t think I’ve ever heard before? maybe.
It’s a bit chaotic, but it’s highly structured at the same time, which is probably what I like best about it.
I do wish wish they’d slow down once in a while though, it’s going at a rate of knots!
(track 8 – The Garden)
Actually by now it’s starting to grate, just this constant pace, with every instrument playing all the way through, same sounds, same speed, I don’t know if I can take much more of this.
I bet the studio was about to close, so they said ‘quick we gotta speed up all the songs if we want to get them all recorded’ it doesn’t sound like this was planned, it’s too hectic.
If they had just kept it to two or three songs it would’ve been a fantastic, completely new sounding kind of music, but it just gets painful.
(track 12 – Visi Rings)
See there’s some very interesting bits here, but it’s just so relentless, it becomes unenjoyable.
By now my favorite parts are the short pause’s between songs.
New kids on the ‘popical trunk©’ block, Abe Vigoda are named after the once thought deceased actor and like him they are a swirling swarm of starling-like trebly guitars, unrelenting woodpecker drumming and vocals that I’m having trouble fitting into any kind of ‘bird’ analogy.
